Return

God is calling His People to Return to Him and His ways and put away the ways of the world’s kingdoms.

Mal 3:5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in [his] wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger [from his right], and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts. {oppress: or, defraud}

Mal 3:6 For I [am] the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Mal 3:7 ¶ Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept [them]. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

Mal 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

2Ch 30:6 So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. {from: Heb. from the hand}

De 30:2 And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;

2Ch 30:9 For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children [shall find] compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God [is] gracious and merciful, and will not turn away [his] face from you, if ye return unto him.

Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. {the unrighteous…: Heb. the man of iniquity} {abundantly…: Heb. multiply to pardon}

I always wondered how God’s Word says that He does not change yet there are numerous times where it says God repented or was moved to pity to have compassion, and He changed from judging people.  The Lord showed me a little of the answer to the two sides of the “Change” coin.

Mal 3:6 For I [am] the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

1Ch 21:15 And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. {Ornan: also called, Araunah}

Jer 26:13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

Joe 2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he [is] gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Joe 2:14 Who knoweth [if] he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; [even] a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?

Am 7:6 The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.

Jon 4:2 And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, [was] not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou [art] a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

When God says He does not change an important part of what He is talking about is that “Good and Evil” will never change. What is right and wrong, good and bad, He will not change. Also His character of being a God of Love and Light will never change, so His Principles of what is good and evil will never change. Jesue said,

Mt 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Because God is a God of Love and Forgiveness He is eager to stop judgment that is due people for violating His laws and order, all of which will never change. This is where God will stop the direction He is going in to punish evil doers. This is when he will set aside His  judgment directives, turn away from condemnation, and forgive repentant people, His People.

It is good to forgive; so the Lord is ready and eager to find where He can forgive. As the scripture says above in Joel 2:14, who knows when God may repent of the judgement planned against people for their evil doings, so repent and ask God’s forgiveness that you may be spared His wrath to come.
